St. Luke's Halsall is 250!

This year we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our school. A quarter of a millennium ago, an innovative young woman called Catherine Halsall believed that girls needed to be offered the same opportunities in life as boys - a radical thought in Georgian times! In her will, Catherine donated enough money to allow the establishment of Halsall Girl's School, now known as St. Luke's Halsall CE Primary School.

We are planning a celebration week beginning with a Georgian assembly on Monday 22nd September 2008, culminating in a Victorian Garden Party on Saturday 27th September, to reflect the eras through which our school has prospered.

We also celebrate Catherine's memory, by bringing our school forward in the redevelopment of our buildings to provide a state-of-the-art Foundation Stage, and turning her Halsall building into a place which will provide a spectacular welcome into our Christian community.

Proud parents receive certificates

Just some of the proud parents who received certificates during a special assembly this term. 'Understanding how children learn Maths using the internet' was a course designed to help parents and grandparents help children with their maths.  It was organised by Mrs. Jones and designed and run by Mr. Steve Rees, of the Partnership.  He is pictured far right after presenting the certificates.

If you have any ideas for courses please let me know and we will do our best to ensure they are organised.  Sue Kerwin
